Amber Alert Issued for Missing Baby in New Mexico

Authorities have successfully located a 10-month-old baby girl, Eleia Maria Torres, from New Mexico after issuing an Amber Alert. Tragically, the baby's mother and another woman were found murdered, and her sister was discovered injured in a park last week. However, there is some relief as the suspect in connection to the case is now in custody. The Clovis Police Department reported that Eleia Maria Torres has been taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.

Details of the Investigation

The investigation began when a call was made to the Clovis Police Department just before 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The caller reported the discovery of two women with gunshot wounds at Ned Houk Park, located five miles north of Clovis. Alongside the victims, officers also found a young girl with a head injury. Immediate medical assistance was provided to the child before she was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center and later transferred to a hospital in Lubbock, Texas. At the scene, officers also found items such as an infant car seat, an infant stroller, and a baby bottle, leading them to believe that there was an infant present with the victims when the incident occurred.

The deceased women found at the scene were identified as Samantha Cisneros, 23, and Taryn Allen, also 23, both from Texico, New Mexico. During the course of the investigation, it was revealed that Samantha Cisneros is the mother of both the injured girl found at the scene and the missing 10-month-old Eleia Maria Torres.

Amber Alert and the Search for Eleia Maria Torres

Given the circumstances and the belief that Eleia Maria Torres had been abducted by the perpetrator of the crime, an Amber Alert was issued to alert the public and seek assistance in finding the missing baby. The Clovis Police Department urged the public to be on the lookout for Eleia Maria Torres, as she was considered to be in immediate danger.

Reunion and Precautionary Measures

Fortunately, on Monday morning, the Clovis Police Department announced that they had located Eleia Maria Torres. She was found safe and was immediately taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. The exact medical condition of both children involved has not been disclosed at this time.

Ongoing Investigation and Charges

The case is being handled by the 9th Judicial Major Crime Unit, who have taken over the investigation. Details regarding the charges the suspect may face and the current status of the ongoing investigation have not been released by the authorities. USA TODAY reached out to the Clovis Police Department, the FBI, and the Ninth Judicial District Attorney for further information but did not receive an immediate response.

The Clovis Police Department previously referred to the case as a double homicide and child abduction in an earlier press release.

Conclusion

This tragic incident involving the murder of two women and the abduction of a 10-month-old baby girl has come to a hopeful resolution with the safe recovery of Eleia Maria Torres. The authorities are continuing their investigation to gather more information and bring the responsible parties to justice.
