Who is Özgür Demirtaş?

Özgür Demirtaş was born on August 12, 1976 in Ankara. He graduated from İzmir Atatürk High School with the first degree. Taking placement exams in university ranking among the top 50 students in Turkey in 1998, he graduated from Boğaziçi University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. He completed his studies at Boston College in 2003 when he was just 27 years old, and earned his doctorate in finance. In the same year, he started to work as an Assistant Professor at Baruch College City University of New York. "In the field of teaching", he was elected as the best faculty member in the Finance department in 2003 and in the Faculty of Business Administration in 2004. In 2005, he was chosen as the best faculty member among all departments and faculties, and this time he was awarded the "Outstanding Teaching Medal". Özgür Demirtaş also received the highest education evaluations at New York University (NYU) Stern School of Business. He earned the title of associate professor in 2007 and achieved a permanent academic career at the City University of New York. While the calendars show the year 2010, it was shown in the top 20 in the field of teaching, as a result of the evaluations of more than 10 million students among 1 million professors in the USA, England, Canada and Scotland.

Her work has been published in the world's leading academic journals such as Management Science, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Review of Finance and Journal of Business & Economic Statistics. He made more than 35 academic publications. This book by Özgür Demirtaş, who also wrote a book on private investment funds, was published by Academic Press. Since 2004, his research has been awarded by the City University of New York for 6 years. In September 2012, he left his permanent position in the USA and joined Sabancı University as the Chair of Finance. She won the Marie-Curie European research fund for her work at Sabancı University.
