House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Rep. Byron Donalds, a GOP member on the committee, sent a letter to the National Archives and Records Administration on Wednesday requesting documents regarding Hunter Biden of Air Force Two and Marine Two

House Oversight Chairman James Comer and Rep. Byron Donalds, a GOP member on the committee, sent a letter Wednesday to the National Archives and Records Administration requesting documents related to Hunter Biden's use of Air Force Two and Sea Two when Joe Biden was vice president.

The request follows a Fox News report last week that Hunter Biden traveled with his father to more than a dozen countries, including travel to Europe, Asia and Canada during his tenure as vice president.

Republicans pointed to a Fox News report accusing Biden of abusing Air Force Two during his time as vice president, claiming that Hunter Biden's trip offered Biden's son a chance to advance business relationships and enrich the Biden family.

The president has denied that his son was involved in any of his business dealings and has done no wrongdoing on his own behalf with respect to Hunter.

The White House has long argued that Comer's investigation was designed for political purposes because it has found no evidence that Joe Biden's son directly profited from foreign trade relations or that Hunter Biden's meddles influenced the decision-making process when his father was vice president.

It is not uncommon for presidents and even first ladies to take their children on trips.

Some of former President Donald Trump's family members, including those who worked in the White House and those who did not, traveled frequently on Air Force One and Marine One during his time as president.

The White House declined a request for comment on the letter. \For five years, Republicans have been chasing and failing to prove their own conspiracy against Hunter Biden,\ Hunter Biden's adviser Abbe Lowell told CNN.

Unlike Donald Trump and his family, President Biden and his children were not doing business together.\ The letter marks the latest step in the committee's investigation into the Biden family's business dealings, and House Republicans are increasingly considering opening an impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden's actions while he was vice president.

The letter asks NARA to turn over the documents by Sept. 13. In their letter, Comer and Donalds point to the recent testimony of Devon Archer, one of Hunter Biden's former business associates, who told the panel that it was \categorically false\ that Joe Biden's son played no role in his business dealings.

CNN previously reported that Archer told the committee last month that Hunter Biden sold the \illusion\ of access to his father, but offered no evidence linking Joe Biden to any of his son's foreign-trade dealings.

The committee also claims that they learned that then-Vice President Biden had met with at least one of Hunter Biden's associates in Beijing for official business, citing Archer's testimony.

But Archer said he was not present during the alleged meeting and did not know the details. \We expect the National Archives to provide this information to the Oversight Committee so we can provide the transparency that Americans demand and deserve,\ Comer told CNN about the letter.
