Graham admitted he agrees with Marjorie Taylor Greene that Trump should distance himself from ‘toxic’ Laura Loomer

Senator Lindsey Graham has joined the chorus of Republicans urging former President Donald Trump to distance himself from far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. Graham, a close ally of Trump, acknowledged that he agrees with Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who has also called for Trump to sever ties with Loomer following her racist comments against Vice President Kamala Harris. "Marjorie Taylor Greene is right. I don't say that a lot," Graham told HuffPost. "We have policy disagreements, but the history of this person is just really toxic." Graham cited Loomer's past statements, including a call for the daughter of former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway to hang herself, as evidence of her unsuitability. "I don't know how this all happened, but, no, I don't think it's helpful. I don't think it's helpful at all," he added. Greene had previously condemned Loomer's racist post about Harris on social media, stating that it "does not represent who we are as Republicans or MAGA." Graham went further, criticizing Loomer's behavior as "abhorrent" and suggesting that it could be detrimental to Trump's political prospects. "I think that the president would serve himself well to make sure this doesn't become a bigger story," he said. Graham's comments come amid concerns among Republicans that Loomer may have influenced Trump's poor performance in his first presidential debate with Harris. Some speculate that Loomer, who accompanied Trump to the debate, may have contributed to his combative and unfocused demeanor. Others have expressed concern that Loomer's extremist views and incendiary behavior could further alienate voters and damage Trump's reputation. Loomer, known for her inflammatory rhetoric, has made headlines for her support of white nationalism and her comparison of her Twitter ban to the Holocaust. Her association with Trump has raised questions about the former president's tolerance for extremism and his willingness to embrace fringe elements within the Republican Party.
