Man accused of stabbing teen 18 times at Miami airport denied bond
A man accused in the brutal stabbing of a teen at Miami International Airport on Sunday was denied bond in court on Monday.
A horrifying incident unfolded at Miami International Airport, where a 17-year-old transgender teen was brutally stabbed multiple times. The accused, 29-year-old Alexander Love, was denied bail as he faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and premeditated murder.
According to the arrest report, the young victim was simply having a meal on the floor when Love launched his vicious attack with a long butcher knife, stabbing her approximately 18 times. The teen managed to escape and run for help, and she was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery.
Love was apprehended by Customs and Border Patrol and claimed in an interview that he had briefly met the teen at the airport. He also made puzzling statements about possibly being drugged and suggested that he needed to hurt whoever had hurt him, leading to the knife purchase.
While preliminary investigations don't indicate a hate crime, the police are not ruling out that possibility. The judge in the bond court denied Love bail and ordered him to have no contact with the victim.
