The cosmos is celebrating the 55th anniversary of the first lunar landing this weekend by providing a full moon. Numerous events will honor Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin's historic achievement. Aldrin, at 94 years old, is the last surviving member of the Apollo 11 crew. He will be headlining a gala at the San Diego Air and Space Museum on Saturday night. Astronaut Charlie Duke, who was the voice inside Mission Control during the July 20, 1969 moon landing, will also be joining Aldrin.

Jim Kidrick, the Museum President, is excited to host a celebration 55 years after "one of the most historic moments in not only the history of America but in the history of the world." For those unable to attend the celebrations in San Diego, Cape Canaveral, or Houston, there are other ways to commemorate the moon landing. The new film "Fly Me to the Moon," a lighthearted look at the event, stars Scarlett Johansson.

The Smithsonian Institution's National Air and Space Museum has put together a special website for exploring all things Apollo 11. Additionally, taking in the full moon on Saturday night into Sunday morning is a way for people to connect with the anniversary.
