## "Not fit to run, not fit to serve": JD Vance criticizes Biden and Harris at a rally in Virginia

RADFORD, Virginia - Republican vice-presidential nominee JD Vance passionately addressed a crowd of hundreds at a rally in southwestern Virginia on Monday, taking aim at Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, who had just bowed out of the 2024 race. Vance, an Ohio senator and former President Donald Trump's running mate, criticized Harris for signing up for Biden's failures and questioned the President's capacity to serve, echoing calls for Biden's resignation. Vance argued that if Biden is not fit to run, he is not fit to serve, invalidating the will of primary voters.

The rally, which followed another one earlier in the day in Vance's hometown of Middleton, Ohio, sparked mixed reactions. While Republicans cheered Vance's remarks, a small group of protesters gathered at Radford University, holding signs supporting reproductive rights. Democrats and the Harris campaign also pushed back against comments made by Republican state Sen. George Lang at the Ohio rally, suggesting a potential civil war if Republicans lose in November.

At the Virginia rally, Republican surrogates focused on immigration and law enforcement, blaming migrants for crime and the Biden Administration for inflation. Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares and Rep. Morgan Griffith criticized the Biden-Harris administration, with Miyares teasing a 2025 gubernatorial run. Griffith called Harris a "less than competent" candidate responsible for border crossings in the Southwest.

The Harris Campaign and Virginia Democratic leaders criticized the Trump-Vance campaign for its connection to the conservative 2025 Project. Meanwhile, rally attendees shared their thoughts on the race, with some supporting Trump and Vance, while others planned to vote third-party or lean Republican. As the rally concluded to cheers and Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop," attendees and protesters alike reflected the divided political landscape ahead of the 2024 election.
