In a statement, Bethel Park High School officials dispelled previous reports about Crooks’ life as a student.

Bethel Park High School officials have refuted previous reports that Trump shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks was bullied, threatening, and a member of the school's rifle team. The school stated that they have "no record" of Crooks trying out or being dismissed from the rifle team due to character or performance concerns. Furthermore, the school denied reports that Crooks made threats of violence against the school, describing him as a quiet, intelligent young man who got along with his teachers and classmates. Additionally, the school found no evidence of Crooks being bullied in their records.
