2024 Open Championship TV schedule

The thrilling 2024 golf season reaches its climax this week with the 152nd installment of The Open Championship, taking place at Royal Troon. After an eight-year absence, the world’s oldest golf tournament returns to Troon, where the coveted Claret Jug and a record purse from The R&A will be awarded on Sunday for the tenth time.

As the tournament commenced, all eyes were on Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irish superstar has been showcasing some of the best golf of his career, and although he didn’t secure a win at the Scottish Open last week (unlike last year before The Open), many believed that his recent heartbreak at the U.S. Open would fuel his quest to end his decade-long major championship drought. Unfortunately, McIlroy faltered in Round 1.

Tiger Woods faced challenges as well, finishing with a disappointing 79 after a series of bogeys at Royal Troon. He managed only two shots better on Friday, shooting a 77, placing him well below the cutline with play still underway.

On a brighter note, Shane Lowry, who achieved one of three bogey-free rounds on Thursday, continued his strong performance Friday morning, taking the clubhouse lead at 5 under after recovering from a double-bogey on the 11th hole.

Attending The Open Championship is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and watching golf on such a prestigious stage is a privilege.
