A single ticket has won Tuesday’s estimated $1.13 billion Mega Millions jackpot – expected to be the fifth-largest prize in the history of the game, the lottery says.

Mega Millions Jackpot Win in New Jersey

On Tuesday, a single Mega Millions ticket sold in New Jersey has won what is believed to be the fifth-largest jackpot in the history of the game. The estimated jackpot amount was a staggering $1.13 billion. The winning numbers for the draw were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the Mega Ball was 4.

Jackpot Details and Options

If confirmed at that level, this jackpot win would rank fifth in Mega Millions jackpot history. The winner of this jackpot has the option to choose between receiving the full jackpot amount in annual payments or taking a lump-sum payment of approximately $537.5 million.

Previous Mega Millions Jackpot Wins

This jackpot win comes seven months after the largest-ever Mega Millions grand prize of $1.602 billion was won by a ticket purchased in Neptune Beach, Florida. Furthermore, the all-time largest US lottery jackpot was a $2.04 billion Powerball prize won in November 2022 by a ticket bought in California.

Other Winners and Prizes

In addition to the jackpot win, thirteen other tickets in Tuesday's drawing won at least $1 million by matching the first five balls. Three of these tickets were sold in New York, two in Georgia, two in Florida, and one each in California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio. One of the New York tickets won $2 million because the holder bought an optional Megaplier feature. The value of the ticket in California is slightly over $1 million, as prizes in that state depend on ticket sales and the number of winners.

Next Powerball Drawing

Lottery players will have another chance to win a massive payout this week, as Wednesday's Powerball drawing offers an estimated $865 million jackpot, which would be the fifth-largest in the game's history. The winner of Wednesday's drawing can choose to receive the jackpot in annual payments or a lump-sum payment of approximately $416.1 million, both before taxes, according to Powerball.

Previous Powerball Jackpot Win

The Powerball jackpot was last won on January 1 by a ticket in Michigan with an estimated $842.4 million prize. Since then, thirty-six consecutive Powerball drawings have passed without a grand prize winner. The odds of winning any prize in a Powerball drawing are 1 in 24.9, while the odds of snagging the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, according to the lottery.
