SpaceX gets approval: It will launch spy satellite
According to Bloomberg, SpaceX has received approval from the Pentagon's Space Force to use recyclable boosters on its Falcon Heavy rocket to launch top-secret spy satellites.
The Pentagon Space Force told Bloomberg that the launches will be carried out as part of the National Security Space Launch mission.
This approval means that SpaceX will carry the spy satellites developed by the US for use in secret missions.
The Falcon Heavy, one of the most powerful launch rockets in the world, basically consists of 3 Falcon 9 rockets and has 27 engines.
According to SpaceX, this power is equivalent to 18 Boeing 747 aircraft.
Walter Lauderdale, chief of the Falcon division at Space Systems Command, told Bloomberg that the Space Force has saved more than $64 million for GPS missions and avoided extra costs by using reusable Falcon 9 rockets in the past.
According to a report by Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos is expecting a similar approval for the Vulcan rocket made by Blue Origin.
